Flying Alaska After 50, by Gary S. Evans

This book is about a temporary flying job that turned into a life-changing career. Flying bush Alaska was far more interesting than being a general building contractor. It was a chance to fly thousands of hours over some of the most beautiful country there is. I was fortunate to meet many people, including movie stars and famous sports figures. Even ordinary guys like me who were living their dreams to hunt and fish in Alaska. The flying was not always easy. I flew year-round in wind, rain, fog, and snow. In the winter months, the days were short and often bitterly cold. Although some medical emergency flights were quite dangerous, none of the thousands of my passengers ever got a scratch.
