Submissions

We look for fiction and nonfiction submissions related to Alaska and the Pacific Northwest: biography & memoir, history, humor, life in the North, Native American culture, and true crime.

We are not currently accepting works of horror fiction, sci-fi/fantasy, poetry, or children's titles at any of our imprints.

It is recommended that you print this list to ensure that you have completed each item as requested.
Incomplete or incorrect submissions will be discarded.

FICTION and MEMOIR and NON-FICTION
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

All submissions are required to be MS Word documents.

FILE 1 – Cover/query letter:

In this file, write one (1) short paragraph pitching the premise of your work and its genre.

FILE 2 – Sample first 50 pages or first 3 Chapters:

Your manuscript should include a Title page which reiterates your work’s title, genre, word count, and your contact information in a header with the same formatting as the body of your email.

Sample pages MUST be:

• 12-point, Times New Roman font
• ½ inch indents on the first line of each new paragraph
• 1.5 line spacing with no extra returns between paragraphs and dialogue
• Use "###" between intended scene breaks
• Have numbered pages, with the title page being the first numbered page

FILE 3 – Synopsis:

In this file, write 3-5 pages summarizing your book’s plot and how it ends.

We do not accept synopses or excerpts in the body of the query email itself.

FILE 4 – Author Biography and Promotional Information:

Please include both a short author biography and your promotional plans. Promotional information includes your social media presence, a description of the target audience, marketing ideas, and an indication of how you would help promote the title, as well as a list of competitive titles.  

We do not accept author biographies or promotional ideas in the body of the query email itself.

SUBMISSION EMAIL INSTRUCTIONS:

Email ALL FOUR (4) of the files listed above, exactly as listed below, to: info@epicenterpress.com
with the SUBJECT: CP GENRE Query: TITLE by AUTHOR

Example:  If Gayle Newman were submitting a query for their memoir, The Crow’s Beak, the subject of their query email would be:

CP Memoir Query: THE CROW’S BEAK by Gayle Newman

IMPORTANT:  Do not submit manuscripts via bulk email messaging services like SendGrid, MailChimp, etc. These services do not follow our submission guidelines and are thus discarded.

BODY OF SUBMISSIONS EMAIL: 

Include Only: the title of your work, the genre of your work, the word count of your full manuscript, and your contact information (full name, mailing address, phone, email address) in the following format:

DISCLAIMERS

• We do not consider books that have already been published in any format, including eBook only.
• We do welcome reprints from established authors of titles that are currently out of print, unless they are already available in any eBook formats. However, you must have proof verifying that the rights have reverted to you.
• If you have signed a contract with another publisher, please let us know.

• Thank you for your cooperation in following our submission requirements. This is a gentle reminder that submissions that do not follow our guidelines will be discarded.
• Both unagented and agent submissions are welcome.
• We request that authors keep us informed if their manuscript is no longer available.
• Generally, if we decline a manuscript, we felt it wasn’t a fit for any of our publishing imprints.  
• If you do not hear back from us within four (4) months, please contact us by resending the query letter. Sometimes, queries are lost due to the high number of submissions. We appreciate your understanding.
